KHABTI GOENPA
Located in Trashigang Dzongkhag under Samkhar Gewog, Khabti Goenpa Drubdey was earlier known as Chiphu Goenpa. Drubthob Thongmeth, who was the disciple of Je Khenpo Shacha Rinchen and a descendent of Lama Kuenzang Chophel had shifted from Mongar to Khabti hill around 1837 and established his seat there. He was originally from Mongar Larjab. After he settled there, the place prospered as the center of religious learning. However, about three generations later, it began to see decline and was not as famous as it used to be.
In 1987, granting an appeal of about eight devotees, His Eminence H.E. Gyeltshen Trulku started a Drubdey. It was named Tashi Woeselphu and continues to be known by that name.
The Drubdey was further expanded in 1998 with a construction of accommodation for about 30 people. It was built with the help from devoted patrons. The disciples continue to practice everyday.
The Drubdey is well connected by road and has access to all modern facilities.
At present there are 5 practioners at the center. |
